I love my Magnolias!

Hello Stampers!

Just another card I wanted to share with you made with my beloved Magnolias!  This is Tilda from the recent Summer release.  I ADORE her!

She's coloured with Copics - accented with Copic opaque white paint - and accented with Atyou Spica pens (have I shared how much I LOVE these pens?? - fabulous glass glitter - not so flashy - perfect over your Copics).  I think the white accents in her hair really make that blonde hair gleam, don't you?

And I've used one of my favourite Bo Bunny papers here - "Little Miss" - LOVE these colours for summer!

The post is one of the Magnolia "Doo Hickey" dies - they are so sweet & whimsical!  This one comes with a cat too - CUTE!

I've finally figured out to use my die pick to twirl the flower stems before I glue them down with a hot glue gun.  This is what I've seen on all the European blog and I always love the look.  Took me a while to figure this out though - silly girl!

Happy Stamping!

Art journaling

Hello Stampers and Happy Monday!

If you are a blog follower and a paper crafter, you are probably very familiar with "art journaling".  If not, then welcome!  In short, it is a journal of art.  Personally, I find it a great way to practice new art mediums, techniques, and applications without the stress/ pressure of creating a finished product.  I enjoy creating for creation's sake!

Friday night I enjoyed a fabulous crafty night with my fellow divas at SGD - WHAT FUN!  And this was such a great way for me to unwind from a stressful week at work.  And of course, reminisce about our awesome CHA adventures in Chicago!  (Still on a high!).

This page uses a lot of mediums.  The concept though, is layering.  Some of the products used are:

  • Memory Box Stamp
  • Penny Black stamp
  • Tim Holtz tissue tape
  • Mister Huey's mask
  • Mister Huey's misting sprays
  • Pan pastels
  • Acrylic paints
  • Tim Holtz distress ink (antique photo) & distress tool
  • Tim Holtz distress markers
  • Ranger archival ink (black)

On this particular page, I LOVED colouring the flowers with my distress markers!  I thought they really popped against the black ink and the gentle pink background.  I am so much more in love with my markers now that I had the one-on-one time with Tim!  It was really helpful!!

Read more on my personal blog.

Have a great week!

Sorry I am a day late, but better late than never my grandma always said!!  So Thank You to everyone who left their comments about their favourite of the upcoming Bo Bunny releases.  We here at SGD love ALL the releases, and we will do our best to convince Sheila that she needs to bring them all in!!!  Cross your fingers!!

So after using Random.org, the winning comment is...........

I think I'll have to go with Serenade, with Apple Cider a very close second. Really, they're all gorgeous!

Thank you Shelley and CONGRATS!!!  If you could pop Sheila an email at scrappinsheila@rogers.com, and let her know your mailing address, she will pop your lovely Bo Bunny prize package in the mail!!!   (Or you can pick it up if you are in the area!! Just let her know that too!)

Have a fantastic day!!!

Toonie Tuesday - Carta Bella and Just Rite stampers

I love Parisian themed crafty supplies and this new paper from Carta Bella ( a new division of Echo Park) called Paris Girl is so up my alley! I also used a stamp from Just Rite stampers called Paris Background.  The Paris and European theme are still going strong in the crafting world and we have lots of items to help keep you in the loop!

I designed this mini photo book card for this week's upcoming Toonie Tuesday. For just $2 at 2 pm you can make this sweet project! I can't wait to get some black and white photos developed to add to this! I hope to see you there!

Cheers, Andrea

Friday after CHA....

Good morning, ladies!!! The Friday after CHA, (actually the second Friday) where do I begin.......We had a blast! We learned so much! We are so excited to bring it all back to you!!! Did you see how we all got to meet Tim a lot....o yeah, did you watch the video where he says hello to all of you!!! He is such a nice guy and a great artist, he showed me personally some tricks with his new markers, don`t get me wrong, I love the markers but there where certain things I couldn`t do, well he showed me and more tricks!! I don`t know where to start....one of the things we learned, that MIXED MEDIA is HOT!! So ladies, stay tuned, we are hoping to amaze you with a lot of new stuff!!

Now onto my card today...I have said it before, what I love about crafting is that you can make it any way your style suits you, combine it all, and do your own thing. I like the look of mixed media, sometimes it is a bit too busy for my taste so I kept it CAS. For this card I took a piece of watercolour paper, Sheila has ordered it and it is on its way!!. The size is 4 x 3, I took 3 of Tim Holtz markers, dusty concord, faded jeans and weathered wood and scribbled over the paper, I watered it down with Tim`s waterbrush. I also scribbeld some on a acrylic block, picked it up with the brush and applied it to the paper. Let it dry or use your heat gun, then spray it with pearl glimmermist, and let dry again. Butterflies are stamped by inking up the stamp with the dusty concord marker, huff and stamp. Sentiment is stamped with Versafine. The bigger butterfly is inked up again with the markers and cut out. The edges are inked with dusty concord, some twine from sew easy and a black Viva pearl to finish it off. The panel is popped up.

Hope you like it! Have a great day and thanks for stopping by, Anja

Real Boys Play with Trucks!

It's true you know!  My boys love their trucks, and the bigger the better.  Monster Truck Big!  Here is a layout made with BoBunny's "On the Go" Line, perfect for my boys!

Nothing too technical about this page!  I used the 12 x 12 chipboard shapes, the brads and the paper, all from the one line. I also matched up some of the Double Dot Cardstock.  Some fussy cutting from the cut-outs paper, and the banner trend is still big right now so I layered some 1" strips, folded them and made the banner below the title.  Love the colours, so bright and happy!

FYI: If you are doing some blog hopping tomorrow (that would be Wednesday, July 25th), make sure you head over to Bo-Bunny's blog for a look.  Just sayin'!!

CHA Chicago 2012 Updates and a Mixed Media Card

Hello Stampers!

We are all home safe & sound from a FABULOUS week in Chicago at CHA!!  What an incredible week!  It was my first time - and wow - it certainly lived up to expectations!  My first time meeting Tim Holtz!  And countless other incredible artists - Donna Downey - Claudine Helmuth - the list goes on!  See some of the photos below!

Here is a card I created today - inspired by a creative week!  The card base is Kraft.  I prepped with gesso.  By the way - I am just in LOVE with masks & sprays - and wow - they were everywhere at CHA!  Here, I've used the Mister Huey's chevron mask - and two tones of green Pan Pastels.  Then I applied a layer of Golden  Absorbent Ground.  While this dried - I created some of my own masks.

I used plastic packaging from a die set - and cut out some shapes from my Tim Holtz Movers & Shapers dies (here I used the butterflies).  I laid them on the page - then sprayed with some Tattered Angels.  I placed them somewhere else - and sprayed with another colour.

I used these beautiful new Prima stamps - to randomly stamp text on my page in Ranger archival.  Alamanc stamp set and Songbird.

I sprayed some lace with Tattered Angels and dried it with my heat tool.  I've applied some Prima self-adhesive gems.

The plastic butterflies that I cut out - were inked with Ranger alcohol inks and then glued to the card front.

Here are some photos from CHA!

With love from the Clever Owls.

Happy Friday!! If all goes well, I should be home from Chicago late last night so I am pre posting this, let's hope Mr. Blogger is nice to us.

Last week I showed you a card with Clever Owl Memory Box die and this another card with those owls. First I embossed the background with the Seeing spots folder from Cuttlebug and with my Nestabilities I cut out the oval. I popped up the owls and put green branches around them, with the Martha Stewart and EK punch, the ribbon is from my stash. The sentiment is from Heartfelt Creations, Inspire me and it is stamped on the bistro label die(Memory Box). Some Viva glass effect gel and Viva silver pearl to finish it off.

I think this is a good card for a wedding or anniversary! Thanks for stopping by, Anja

Eh hem... someone forgot to mention that I too am at CHA with the SGDs girls (geez.. I guess if you aren't at the same hotel you just don't count). Me thinks the girls are a little fuzzy headed from all the excitement. ;)

I have a sweet project today using the Kite Sizzix Framelits die and stamp set.

updates from CHA

Hello Stampers!

Here is a VERY happy girl!!  I've finally met my crafting idol - and here he is!  I spent a fabulous 20 minutes working with him on the distress inks, especially the new markers - and can't WAIT to come and share what I learned!  Tim is just as personable and wonderful in person as he is on camera and online.  What a thrill!

Lots of other amazing things so far - and this is only day two!  Two more days of pure crafty magic.

We've loved seeing the new releases from all our beloved manufacturers.  Bo Bunny, Cosmo Cricket, American Crafts (blew our minds!), My Mind's Eye, Prima, Ranger (seriously - need I say more?).

The innovations sneak peek was amazing - we say the top 20 launches as voted by the CHA judges.  Just you want until you see the good stuff!

This is one small segment of the Ranger booth.

Lots more to come!  Stay tuned!

Love from Chicago!

Guess who has now has an APP??

No not us.  (Yet!)  Check this out:

Mr. Fabulous, Tim Holtz, now has his own app.  I of course just downloaded it onto my iPhone.  You can check out all it does here on Tim's blog.  What will this man do next?!  Most of our divas are down in Chicago right now at the Craft & Hobby Association Summer Show, smoozing it up with all your favourite manufacturers.  Including Tim Holtz!  Hopefully none of them will be arresting for stalking the poor man!

Enjoy your day!  Have fun with your new App!!  :)

my lovely Tildas

Hello Stampers!

Here is another Tilda card I made with a Magnolia stamp.  This is from a class I taught last week actually.  I've coloured Tilda with my Copics.  She's accented with the Copic opaque white paint and some Atyou Spica glitter pens.  The paper is from Bo Bunny Little Miss (my latest absolute favourite!)

Happy Stamping!

Memory Box border die

Andrea here to share with you a quick and simple card I made using a Memory Box Border die and some of the new 6x6 Bo Bunny paper called 'Little Miss'. I also used some of my new American Crafts skinny ribbon you can buy by the roll that I grabbed last time I was in the store.

I also used one of my fave sentiments from a Paper Smooches set called 'Pretty Phrases'. I just love this fun set. They have lots of other sentiment sets too that of course I just had to add to my collection.

So next time you are in the store don't forget to check out our HUGE selection of dies- and have fun thinking of all the great ways they can be used!!

Cheers, Andrea

JustRite Snowfall Background Stamp

Good Morning Everyone,

This is the card we did for Wonderful Wednesday. I cased this card from Sheri. I  love using  blue and silver together for  Christmas colours. We stamped the stamp with faded blue jean distress ink. I used a brayer to make sure the stamp was inked up well and had no lines. Then I embossed snowflakes with silver embossing powder.

Card Kits!

Hello Stampers!

As you may have heard, SGD is launching a brand new line of card kits!  We design divas have too much fun creating new things - and we want to share!!  So we'll be making lots of new card kits (as well as layout kits) to sell - in store and online.  These will be  unique projects - made by us, the Design Team divas, and when they're gone, they're gone!

The good news is - there will be a steady stream of fun new projects - because we all have such different styles.

I was in a crafty mood this weekend and put together a couple of kits!  Both of them use the American Crafts Dear Lizzy line.  I've been eyeing that series for a few weeks now - just drawn to the bright summer colours of lime and orange - delish!

Here is the second kit that I created this weekend.

Happy Stamping!

Memory Box Dies - HOT, HOT, HOT!!

Hello Stampers!

I wanted to share some projects with you that I made with a new Memory Box Die.  If you haven't heard of these dies yet - you have to check them out.  They are the HOTTEST thing we've seen hit the paper crafting world in a long time!  We can hardly keep them on the shelves - and there are a LOT of these little guys!

I was hanging out with my fellow crafty SGD divas last week - and we were discussing these strip dies - and what exactly to do with them.  The package shows a nice pattern, all in a row.  But when you use the die, you see that all the little pieces actually pop out.  And they are pretty small.

So I took one home to play with - and here's what I discovered!  They are meant to be used in REVERSE!  Nope, I haven't been sniffing too much glue or too many Copics (well, maybe, but that's a story for another day).

These strip dies punch out a beautiful pattern from a paper - that you can then overlay onto another paper!

OR - as above - you can use it as your own mask!  Another super hot commodity in the store lately has been the range of masks - especially the ones that come from Mister Huey - totally off topic - but check out this one - omg - LOVE!!
So here is another card I've made with the same Memory Box Strip Die.

You might notice I've used a couple of other super HOT lines on these cards:

Tim Holtz Limited Edition Summer 2012 Ink

Bo Bunny Country Garden Collection

By the way - Memory Box also make GORGEOUS stamps.  I've used this one on my first card above.

SO much fun!!  Take a moment to check out all the other Memory Box Dies!

Happy Stamping!

SGD July Card Kit- The last one...and learn about our new kits!

This is it...the last regular monthly card kit. We have decided to take our kits in a new direction and as such we are no longer doing the monthly scrapbook, kid's or card kits. We want to thank all of our club members over the years as we have had so much fun doing these but have decided to shake things up and keep us on our toes! The two cards you see above are the ones that this month's card kit members can make using these ADORABLE stamps by Pergamano! While the kits are sold out you can of course still by these stamps and the papers by Pink Paislee and American Crafts

Replacing our monthly kits will be our "SGD Diva Kits". They will be on a first come first serve basis and as supplies last. You will be able to buy them in-store and on-line. They will be in a range of prices depending on what kind of kit they are and what they include. Personally this is great news for me as I do have to watch the price of the stamps I use monthly to keep my kit prices in budget. With these new kits I can use what stamps inspire me and price the kits accordingly. I see some Magnolia card kits with tons of flowers coming up in my future!!

Our first kit by SGD Diva and store owner Sheila will be released this week! I have personally already seen the scrapbook layout and my hand is up to get one! She won't even let me pre-order it- I have to rush in and grab one hee hee! You will be able to complete her 2 page layout and just add pictures! My kind of scrapbooking let me tell you!

So while I say good-bye to my monthly card kit program I am saying HELLO to a new future of crafty fun! Hope you will join us!

Cheers! Andrea
