Wonderful Wednesday

Good Morning Everyone,
Hope you are keeping warm. I thought we needed to bring some spring in to the store this Wednesday. I made this card using one of the new dies from Memory Box. This die is called Tulip stems.
With this die you cut and emboss. The embossing brings out the details in the petals, I used Victorian Velvet distress ink to ink the edges of the flower and on the white back ground. The background I cut out with a spellbinder die. I added a little glitter to the edges of the tulips.

Hope to see you out this Wednesday. Keep warm and have a great day.

Mixed Media card

Happy Friday! Today I am sharing a mixed media card with you, I made it last week for my design team and also for the upcoming workshop we will be hosting at the store on February 22!!
I have used alcohol inks, ferro silver metallic paint and some other cool stuff. You can learn about it on February 22.
Hope you will join us, Anja

Hearts Abound

In the past few months, I've really enjoyed delving into the world of Mixed Media.
It allows me to go to places i've never been and to experiment with fun techniques.
I'm loving the free expression of my creativity. I've never been what you call a "technique" oriented stamper, but rather preferred colouring, a cleaner style and a more "white bread" approach to paper crafting. So this Art Journalling Calendar Project is perfect for me!!!!

For my page, I started with a Heart Stencil and sprayed using Tattered Angels Glimmer Spray. Taking the advice of my mixed media mentor Kim Pargeter, I didn't waste the ink on the stencil and ended up with that fun white space to the right hand side of the Calendar Page. I found it just a touch too pink, so I used a couple of Impression Obsession Stamps to add a little more depth and then sponged with Vintage Photo ink around the page. The Two stamps I used:

Chicken Wire Heart

(if you like the chicken Wire Heart stamp, I'm sure that Sheila can get them in for you!)

Then I punched out the Circles and used the IO Die Set Hearts with some Pink Paislee Paper, inked around the edges and adhered it to the background. Using my Fountain Pen and Chocolate Ink, I outlined the edges of the punch outs, to give them more dimension. I added a touch of Doodling, as well as hand lettering the Title. To finish up, I sponged and added the Cupid Die Cuts and the Floral Heart strip and some Corner Metal Stickers from Close to my Heart. I'm Happy with the way the page turned out.

Art Journalling seems to be my new Solace.

Stay tuned for more...........

Wonderful Wednesday

Good Evening Everyone,

Just finished my project for this coming Wonderful Wednesday. I love this cute little Owl. This project is just in time for Valentine's Day. I got the idea from Susie B. I used the  new pillow box punch board from We R Memory Keepers. You can make boxes from 3 inches wide to 4 to 12 inches long.   It was so easy to use. The base is made from  JilliBean Soup new line, Heart Healthy Red Bean Soup-Cooked Red Beans.

Hope to see you on Wednesday. Thanks for looking and have a great evening.

Video TuTorial-Colouring skin with Copics and Sarah

Happy Saturday everyone! Andrea here to share the awesome and amazing video Sarah did to show how to colour skin with your Copic Markers. I am so impressed with this video! Can't wait to see more!

Also come and join me next Friday night for some Copic fun. I am starting a once a month Copic night to get us using our markers and keeping our colouring skills fresh. This doesn't have a skill level so beginner or expert is welcome. The point of the night is to get together and have fun. Also you won't believe what we can learn from each other- I am always picking up new tricks.

The night will have a focus if you wish to partake but since it is about colouring together if it is something you already feel comfortable doing just join us for the friendship and fun. We will carry on from this video and focus on colouring faces and experimenting with colours for different skin tones.

I will be on hand to answer any copic questions and also to do the quick demo and have images to share with all of you to try your hand at. The cost is only $10 as it is more about using our markers than anything else. Otherwise mine tend to get dusty ;). Call the store to sign up at 519-473-5751 as this is a recent class update and is currently not yet up on the Crops and Classes page.

Hope you can join me!

Collage Art Journal

Good Morning Everyone,

I want to share with you my collage pages that I did for our last Art Journal Class. I had a lot of fun doing these pages.

My inspiration came from  the Santa from My Minds Eye Christmas Paper Vintage Christmas. I  used Christmas Dictionary from My Minds Eye to make my background. I cut up different sizes of squares. To glue down my squares and Santa I used Rangers Glue and Seal. To paint my background I used Tim Holtz distress paints, mustard seed, rusty hingescattered straw and metallic bronze. I finished the edges around Santa and pages with Vintage Photo distress ink.

Next I stamped the pages with Tim Holtz snowflake stamp from Blueprint Christmas stamp set.
To give my pages some dimensions I used embossing paste mixed with acrylic paint and Tim Holtz Holly stencil. I added red Diva Decor pen to make the berries. On the tree I used Decoart Snow Writer to pop up the snow.
For the words I used plain white Thickers and painted them with Tim Holtz distress paint gathered twigs.

Thanks for looking and I hope to see you out at our next Art Journal Class. Have a great day.

Altered Art with Tim Holt Rock Candy Distress Crackle Paint

*click on any pics for a closeup*

Happy Saturday!

I've been getting my 'Lori' on in my craft room this week. Whenever I do anything all altered and artsy I call it being like our lovely diva Lori hee hee! I have had a framed scrapbook page in my craft room hanging directly across from my work station since we moved here. That's not the problem. The problem is that it is a very dark wood and the rest of my room is primarily white.

So one night I snapped.

I grabbed it down off my wall and thought 'I can do this'. After all I have been reading DIY blog posts for a year or so. I am sure to have learned something by now! I first tried painting right over top of it with Tim Holtz Distress stain in Picket Fence- to watery and rolled right off. I remembered that you are supposed to 'rough up' the finish of the painted surface so I grabbed my Tim Holtz sander and got to work. I felt like a regular Tim the Tool Man Taylor! I found the Distress stain still too runny so I found a bottle of acrylic white paint that I had grabbed from the dollar store. I let it dry for hours between layers and it took several layers.

After I was done adding the white paint layers I was a bit stumped. It was a flat white paint and looked blah. Inspiration struck and I grabbed my Tim Holtz Rock Candy Distress Crackle paint and lathered it on. I even ran out! Which if you are a crafter like me actually running out of anything except adhesive doesn't usually happen ;).

I then lightly inked in some Distress Ink in Tea Dye but not too much because my crackle paint was starting to crumble off. Perhaps I put it on too thickly? So I quickly stopped what I was doing and declared it finished!

It was fun being you for awhile Lori!
Till next time- happy Crafting!

Happy New Year from a Happy Stamper!!

Happy Friday and a Happy New Year to all of you!!! I am so ready to get back in some serious crafting! I spend some time in my craft room, inking, dabbering ( I know I made that up), embossing, painting and so on and that's how this project was done. First I cut this trifold card with the Silhouette, so that was easy. Then I cut smaller panels to fit on each fold. I used the Tim Holtz dot fade stencil with
Pearlescent dreamweaver embossing paste, Tim Holtz picked raspberry ink to sponge on, Just Rite Birthday Vintage labels 4 stamp set, Memory Box butterfly, Martha Stewart butterfly punch, Ferro silver to paint on the sides, Viva gold silver paint to put on the butterflies, silver embossing powder for the stamps to heat emboss and a Viva ice white pearl pen to add some pearls.
My fingers were dirty and needed to be cleaned quite a bit in this process and it took quite a while to make the whole card because it had to dry sometimes before I got go on but boy oh boy, the fun I had!!
And I finally opened all those things I had collected.......and discovered how fun they are to use!
Hope you like it too, till next time, Anja
