More Art Journalling Awesomeness!

Andrea here today sharing another of my friend Michelle's art journal. She takes the classes at SGD with Lori and Kim and always comes away so inspired.

Take this page for example. The panda is something her daughter made for her with string when she was about 6 years old. She is 13 now. Michelle has been hanging onto it wanting to preserve it but not sure how. She was inspired to make a backdrop for her panda in her art journal.

She used a bamboo stencil and embossing paste to get started. You could also use THESE dies from Memory box. She painstakingly coloured them and added leaves from a spellbinders die. She then used an older Tim Holtz strip die for a cobblestone path and modified it to make her stones.

All your hard work is amazing Michelle! I hope you are inspired by her too!

Cheers, Andrea

Quick and simple

Happy Friday! I did not have a lot of time to make a card for sharing so I made a quick and easy one!
I took a piece of watercolour paper ( 2 3/4x4) and scribbled some orange and red gelatos on it. Then I sprayed water on the paper and blended it out with my fingers...once it was dry I sprayed some sunshine Dylysions over it. Once that was dry, I stamped the flowers (Penny Black) and the sentiment with black versafine and heat embossed it with black embossing powder. I added a white mat and some score lines on the bottom, it is really hard to see in the picture but I added 2 horizontal score lines and a whole bunch of vertical ones.
Hope you like it, till next time, Anja

Why I love to head to SGD crops

Morning, Lynn here sharing one of the layouts I created at the SGD 12 hour crop this past weekend.

A few reasons I love these crops! People!!! It is so nice to sit down with like minded crafters and enjoy the process of creativity. I might have only gotten two layouts done. But it is so energizing seeing all the ladies create. The snacks I love the snacks! The door prizes! Having access to the whole store.

For this layout I used paper from the BoBunny Altitude collection (truly one of my favorites).

Last week in one of The Ten Daily Sales Items I ordered one of these fabulous stencils by Prima.

As I worked away at my layout I need a little something more and being at the store so very easy to pick up extra supplies.

Love these Stars

Thank you for stopping by! Have a great end of the week!

P.S Our Next 12 hour crop is in March! We also have daily crops :)

Lunette Butterfly and Acetate

Good Morning Everyone,

Another great day to stay inside and craft. Hope you are keeping warm this cold, cold morning. Today I am showing you a card that we will be making this up coming Wonderful Wednesday. I used the Lunette Butterfly from Memory Box and the designer paper is from Kaisercraft newline Rustic Harmony.
I cut out the butterfly on the base part of the card. Then covered that space with Acetate. Then I used a brown  coloured butterfly and glued it on top of the acetate. This gives you a window affect.  Love it.

Hope to see you this Wednesday. Thanks for looking and have a great day.

Happy Saturday!

Andrea popping onto the blog today to share some Art Journal goodness!
My friend Michelle actually created this page when we crafted together. She used a variety of stencils, sprays, embossing paste and primarily Tim Holtz inks. Isn't it lovely!

Thank you Michelle for allowing me to share your creation. I think we all agree you did a terrific job!

Winner of our first mood board challenge!!!

I am so excited to announce our first Mood Board Challenge Winner!

Click here to visit Laura's blog

Please contact me lynnshaffer7@live(dot)ca
for details on the next reveal and your prize!!!!

And on to our Second Mood Board Challenge!!!
Use the below images as inspiration to create a layout (single or double), canvases, art journal pages, tag or card. It's that easy!

According to the Oxford Dictionary a Mood Board is defined as "an arrangement of images, materials, pieces of text, etc. intended to evoke or project a particular style or concept". You may be inspired by the colors, objects, feel or whatever the image represents to you. The winner, selected at random, will receive a $20 gift card to Scrappin Great Deal's and be our featured guest designer for the following month!

First up we have Lori's beautiful card. So many beautiful details.

Lori " was inspired by the colour of the couch!!! I have been creating a lot with teal lately!"

And now we have Anja's breathtaking card.

Anja was inspired by the two pictures that contained blue (Butterfly on couch pillow and blue sky with tree silhoutte picture)

I love this fun layout by Dani! You can't help but smile when you see this layout.

Dani matched all the colors of
the board to create this layout.

Trish blew me away with this elegant card.

Here is a little snapshot of my Trish's  process when creating this card from the Mood Challenge photos: "The image of the path through the forest and the word "Love" gave me the idea of "Following Your Heart"  and the picture of the clock made me think of time. I found Time Traveler's Memories stamp set by Prima  that had the sentiment "Now is the Time". It went along with the idea and design for my project as well as the sentiment " Follow your Heart" sentiment from a set from Just Rite.  I loved the Memory Box die  "Queen of Hearts" from the moment I saw it and the little flower is a My Favorite Things die "Flower Trio and Leaf Trio". The papers are from Crate Paper's  Kiss Kiss and Lawn Fawn's Snow Day collections as well as white cardstock as my base. I chose the red with Valentines Day coming up and its the color of love as well as the heart.  I also used a key from my stash to symbolize the key ( or path) to the heart. The keys were hanging in the picture with the blue sofa.)

I was inspired by the style of the couch it reminded me of our family photo shoot of my little guy sleeping on the chair. I was really excited to continue working with my BoBunny Altitude collection. The colors did match well. I used the word Love as I love these beautiful moments of my son.

The rules:

1. Have Fun. Be inspired.

2. Tell us how the mood board inspired you.

Branches in the snow....

Happy Friday! There sure is a lot of least it gave me inspiration to make this card, lol!
The stamp is from Penny Black, etched brances, and we used it also on the card last Wednesday. For me, this stamp is a keeper, so versatile, to use the whole stamp or part of it.! I have used Tim Holtz weather wood ink and created the sky with it, then I used a sticky note ( ripped off) to create the hills and sponged on some pumice stone ink, from Tim Holtz , and stamped the branches with the mask on. Sentiment is from Just Rite. Not sure if you can see it, but I also scored two lines along the right side.
Hope you like it, till next time, Anja

Good Morning Everyone,

Yesterday I took a Zentangle class with Brenda Shaver. It was a great class. I have always liked the look of Zentangle and I had bought some work books on Zentangle but never understood the meaning of Zentangle. After yesterday I got it. Brenda is a excellent teacher, I had so much fun. I am working with Brenda to come to SGD and teach some classes. Ladies you do not need to be able to draw a straight line. Plus you can make your designs in to cards or add them to your art journal.  Keep checking the SGD website for more details.

You work on tiles when you first start.  The first 2 are from my class and the 3rd is one I did at home on my own. I find it very relaxing.

Hope you will give this a try. Thanks for looking and have a great day.

Doodlebug Saturday Valentine's Day style

My wee sentiment comes from a PACKED sentiment set from Taylored Expressions…

Just wanted to pop in and share my quick card! Grab some of these cuties next time you are shopping at SGD and keep on hand for quick but cute cards!

Ombre Card

Good Morning Everyone,

This Wonderful Wednesday we will be making my Ombre Card. I had posted this card a couple of weeks ago. I used the Mod Flower Background die.  I love the effect of the glitter but my camera skills don't do it justice.

Hope to see you this Wednesday. Thanks for looking and have a great day.
