Kaisercraft "Keepsake" Collection

Good morning, everyone! This week, I decided to take a break from designing kits and did some of my own scrapbooking using this beautiful new collection from Kaisercraft called "Keepsake". Here is a look at the beautiful paper line:

I had this photo of my daughter that I wanted to scrapbook. She was dressed to go to the Queen's Plate in Toronto and I loved her new hat. Often, when I scrapbook, I try to match papers to the colours in the photo. But in this case, I wanted the striking colour of her hat to stand out. So I went for a very monochromatic look in the layout design.

I used the first two papers in the line shown above and fussy cut the frames in paper one. Then, I put this down on paper two and traced around the outer frames without actually gluing them onto the background paper. That enabled me to take some Tim Holtz Vintage Photo Oxide ink and go around the outside of the frames to highlight the area.

I used gesso on the chipboard pieces and then coloured them with a brown Chalk ink. I cut out some postcards that I had leftover from another layout that I had done and edged them in the brown ink, as well. I cut out some of the elements from the Sticker sheet that goes with the collection and added some Prima flowers from my stash. To darken down some of the flowers, I added some Vintage Photo Oxide ink to the centers.

And here you have the layout:

So remember, there are a few occasions when you might want to go for a monochromatic look in your papers and embellishments to allow the actual photo to stand out.

Have a great week.

Texte Grunge

Good Morning Everyone,

Want to share with you a card I made with a new embossing folder that SGD just got in. The embossing folder is called Texte Grunge and it from Carabelle Studio. I wanted to make a masculine card, so I thought this would be a great folder to use. Once I embossed the black card stock I took a sponge and went over it with Walnut Stain Distress Oxide ink. I then cut out the boarder with an old Tim Holtz die strip called Washer Boarder. The sentiment is from Tim Holtz stamp set called Odds and Ends.

Thanks for looking and have a great day.

Penny Black Birthday Peony

Happy Friday! Our pop up store is at the Komoka Community Center today, that is where I will  be teaching a class this afternoon. Would love to see you all, come see hello and check out the store!!
One of the wonderful new things we have are the Clarity brushes, and this beautiful Penny Black stamp. Together with some distress markers (mowed lawn, chipped sapphire and faded jeans), I made this quick and easy card. I inked up the stamp with the markers, huffed on it and stamped it on paper, stamping around it with part of the stamp till I had no ink left. Sentiment is from my stash, an old Hero Arts stamp, and stamped in Versafine Black. Then I put some ink, faded jeans, on one of my Clarity brushes and started to put on the soft finish around and at last over the whole card....I LOVE the result, so soft, no lines and so super easy. Some Nuvo neptune drops and clear wink of Stella to finish this card off. Hope you like it!
                                             Till next time, Anja

SGD Customer Garage Sale!!

Mark your calendars & plan to join us for one of the best garage sales ever!!
Saturday, August 19: 9:30am – 2pm.
Location: Komoka Community Centre, 133 Queen St., Komoka.

Who is this garage sale geared towards ... those looking to sell (Vendor) gently used/unwanted scrapbooking, card-making, crafting supplies, and, those looking to purchase (Shopper) fabulous deals on crafting supplies; tax-free!!

Vendors: If you are looking to sell unwanted crafting supplies, to a large group of crafty-ladies, for cash in your pocket, then this garage sale is for you!!

Shoppers: If you are looking to pick up amazing deals on gently used and/or unwanted crafting supplies from hundreds of boxes of products, including stamps, dies, Copic Markers, paper, machines, embossing folders, cardstock, ribbon, embellishments ..... and so much more; then this garage sale is for you!! Entrance is FREE & garage sale items are TAX-FREE!

This garage sale is one where Vendors will be selling their own items directly to shoppers, FOR CASH!! And who doesn't love cash?!!

Vendor registration, which includes table rental, will be done through us, Scrappin' Great Deals (SGD). Call us at 519-473-5751, or, register on-line by clicking here! Tables are 8' long and you are allowed to rent as many tables as you'd like. Each table will come with 2 chairs. You are allowed to display the products you are selling, however you like, as long as the items being sold fit on top of (or under) your table. Vendors will not be allowed to put items in isle, as our shoppers will need this space to move around; so be sure your items will fit on (or under) your 8' table. If you have a tall item, you can place it directly beside your table; however, there will not be a lot of space in between tables, so please be mindful of this when planning. Tip for successful sales: Do not overload your boxes/table(s) ... spread your items out so shoppers can easily see what you have.

A maximum of 2 Vendors will be allowed per table. For example, if you and a friend would like to split on a table, you are welcome to do this and share the fees. Vendor tables will be sold on a first come basis. For example: the first person to call & register, will receive the very first table(s) set up in the gym (shoppers would walk past your table first to walk into the gym). If the first person calling to register wants 3 tables, they will receive 3 tables grouped together, set up in the first position. We will not reserve spots in the gym. This is 100% on a first come basis, until we are sold out. Vendors are only allowed to sell craft-related products! This is not a "craft show"; it is a garage sale where crafters are selling their unwanted tools, papers, stamps, etc. for scrapbooking, card-making, etc.

Cost/table: Each 8' table is $35 + HST. Each 8' table will include 2 chairs. Payment is required at time of registration (no exceptions). SGD gift cards are not permitted to be used as payment for your table(s). SGD will be setting up the gym the evening before, based on registration numbers, so be sure to reverse enough tables for your items. Vendors will not be allowed to arrive on Saturday morning and request another table, as this would conflict with our set-up. Your total number of tables needed, must be determined by you, and, confirmed by us, by August 17th. You are welcome to add to your number of tables, provided there are still tables that have not been sold yet, AND, it is done by August 17th.

Why would you want to be a Vendor at this new style of garage sale? This new style is ideal for those of you that are looking to sell scrapbooking and crafting products for cash. Maybe you are downsizing and you do not want to have to use in a "giftcard", as we have issued in the past. Another huge benefit, is that the shoppers coming to this event are 100% crafters! You will be selling to a direct target-base of customers! SGD will heavily advertise this event throughout all of our social media feeds and our local community groups. At previous garage sales, we have had over 500 shoppers during a weekend! We have had Vendors earn (through way of a giftcard) over $2000 (several times!!) Many Vendors have earned between $300 - $1000 in giftcards at our past garage sales. Vendors will now receive CASH in your pocket to spend on new crafting supplies, or, however you like. In prior garage sales, every Vendor spot has always sold out!! This is a fabulous opportunity to sell what you no longer need/want.

Why be a Shopper at this event? If you have ever been to one of our garage sales, you already know the answer!! Deal after deal after deal!!! Find amazing crafting products including: stamps, punches, dies, inks, markers, storage solutions, paper trays, machines (YES, MACHINES), papers, embellishments .... and so much more!! Garage sale items are tax free & entrance is FREE!! Our location is fabulous! Lots of room, no stairs, large parking lot, easy to find! Trust us, the gems you can find at our garage sales are AMAZING!!!

How it works .... As a registered Vendor, you are responsible for pricing each of your items. Remember, a lot of people may handle your items, so make sure your pricing stickers are secure. As a general rule, items are priced 25% - 75% off the original pricing (depending on the product and the condition of the product). Vendors are responsible for having their own cash box and change. Remember, shoppers will be paying you directly, with CASH. Vendors are also responsible for having their own bags to give to shoppers to put their purchased items in.

What can you sell? You may sell paper crafting supplies that are related to scrapbooking, card-making, mixed-media art, and, stamping. Examples are cutting tools, working punches, stamps, cardstock, patterned papers, paper packs, embellishments, ribbons, scrapbooking idea books, flowers, storage, Copic markers, etc. For paper, we suggest grouping in packages of minimum 10 sheets, but again, this is up to you. Extra large clear bags can be purchased at the Dollar Store. You are allowed as many large items as you'd like, provided they fit on (or under) your 8' table(s); or closely beside your table(s).

SGD is not liable or responsible for any lost or stolen items. Each Vendor is responsible for manning their Vendor tables. If you are unable to man your table(s), consider having a friend or teenager do it for you! Vendors can set up between 8:00 & 9:30am. Shoppers can shop from 9:30am - 2pm. Event ends at 2pm. Vendors are to be cleared out by 3pm at the latest. There will be no refunds on cost of Vendor tables.

Whether you are looking to sell some of your unwanted craft supplies or take advantage of some ridiculous deals on fabulous products .... or both!!! ..... SGD's Customer Garage Sale is one garage sale worth checking out!! SERIOUSLY!! See you there!!

Portrait of a Lady Kit # 2

Good morning, everyone! Last week, I showed you a layout that I did using the G45 Portrait of a Lady Collection. I like to buy the Collection kit because I can get at least three layouts from the papers. In this kit, there are papers in coral, beige, and dark green.

This is the kit that I made last week, using the beige and coral papers:

For this week, I concentrated on the Green papers. I used several embellishments in wood and chipboard. To make them go with the paper in the kit, I first inked each embellishment with Versa Magic "Hint of Pesto" and then sprayed the embellishments with Prima's "Gold Foil" spray.

I fussy cut the roses and added some Prima Beads to each rose and then added some Prima Crystals from the "Sweet Peppermint" collection.

Here is the layout:

I love the dark green (not really shown above) and gold combination. Hope you like it, too!

Grunge Wash

Good Morning Everyone,

Want to share with you my card for Friday July 28 Make-n-Take. I used the Grunge Wash stamp from  Impression Obsession to make the background. I used Worn Lipstick Oxide as the ink and I gave it a little spritz of water before I stamped on the card stock. For the butterfly I used the Fancy Butterfly die from Impression Obsession and I gave it a little colour by brushing on Pink Sapphire Glitter Kiss from Creative Creation.  The sentiment is from Penny Black's Special Thoughts stamp set.

Want to share a card that my friend Vicki made with the same Grunge Wash stamp.  The circles are also from Impression Obsession called Scribble

Hope you can join me.
Thanks for looking and have a great day.

Hero Arts sympathy card

Hello Friends! Today I am sharing a sympathy card with you, no fun to send out but they are part of our life. I like to keep them somewhat simple. For this card, I used a set from Hero Arts. it is a layering fuchsia set but I used it to stamp the silhouette.
The background is made with some mini Tim Holtz stencils and oxide inks!! Have you ordered the new colours yet? You can do so HERE
Surprise, surprise, I did pre order mine, lol! I added the silhouettes and sentiment with Versafine black and the Misti, some blue Nuvo drops and score lines to finish the card.
Hope you like it! Till next time, Anja

Derwent Inktense Workshop

My next Derwent Inktense Workshop features one stamp, Full of Glee by Penny stamp, two different ways to use it!

The more ways I can use a stamp, the better!!  The first card "You are Wonderful", has been stamped and embossed with white embossing powder.  I will admit it is a bit of a challenge to colour but I love the finished product!! The second card is done in my typical style, lots of layers, bold colouring!

Students are asked to bring the following to class with them:  water brush, fine-tipped scissors, adhesives (including foam pop-ups) and your Derwent Inktense pencils.  If you do not have the pencils, a class set will be available for sharing; however, each student must have their own water brush.  Students will receive a 15% in-store discount during my class.

Scribble Sticks & Tissue Paper!!

Our next Art Journal Workshop is happening at 6:30pm on July 14th, at the Komoka Community Centre.  This workshop we are featuring Dina Wakley Media's Scribble Sticks.  They are high quality pigment, water soluble crayons, in 12 scrumptious colours.  They blend beautifully with water!! I am very impressed.  Like most of you I am sure, I have a large selection of the Distress Crayons which are very similar to the Scribble Sticks.  I found these blend a bit better, but it is the rich colours of the Scribble Sticks that I love.  They can be used without water as well, for an opaque finish on top of other mediums, like acrylic paint. Here is the page we will be doing.  Lots of layers!!

You will get the chance to play with some recent Darkroom Door and Altenew Stamps and some older Prima, Darkroom Door, Kaisercraft, Hero Arts and Dylusions stamps.  The fabulous girl and boy stamps are from Dylusions, and unfortunately have been discontinued, they have been in my stash for awhile and are just making their debut in my journal finally!

The background on this page is created with tissue paper.  Some tissue paper reacts with water, transferring colour to your paper (and your fingers!). Its a fun way to get a quick background on your page. The tissue paper I used is artist quality, not the wrapping type which often has a finish on the paper that doesn't allow transfer of the colour.

We are offering TWO Art Journal Workshops in July - with a different page being done at both.  Check back in later for the one on July 28th!

Please bring fine tipped scissors, a couple small paint brushes, and a foam blending tool with you to class.  We do require registration in advance, please sign up online or phone Sheila at 519-473-5751.

Hope to see you there!!

Portrait of a Lady, etc.

Good morning, everyone! Have you seen this new collection from Graphic 45 "Portrait of a Lady". When I saw these papers, I thought immediately of my grandmother. Whenever you went to visit her, she was always dressed to the "nines". She could be canning and wearing a scarf with a matching sweater or going out to a formal occasion wearing her gloves and hat. So today, I wanted to show you a kit that I made using the following papers from the collection. I thought the photos done in sepia would be great for this kit.

I like to see how I can cut up the paper when there are large elements on it like on the first paper above. Here is the layout plus another one that I created for Graduation.

We only create a limited number of each kit so get them before they are gone. Have a look at the website to see all the kits that we currently have. It might be a good time to stock up for those rainy days that we seem to be having so frequently.

Frames and Tags-Olivia

Good Morning Everyone,

Want to share with you my card that I made with the Creative Expressions Frames and Tags die. This one is called Olivia. You get two dies in this set. One is the flower it self and the other is so you can cut the whole flower out. I decided to just use the flower die and just cut out the outline of the flower. I then backed it with a piece of paper that I designed myself using the Distress Oxide inks. You could use any designer paper as your background. The sentiment is from Penny Black stamp set called Heart Felt.  Then I added a pearl in the centre.

Thanks for looking and have a great day.
